The Citadel Bulldogs will travel to the Ramsey Center to take on the Western Carolina Catamounts this Saturday night in College Basketball action.
The Citadel Bulldogs lost their 15th straight game and dropped to 6-20 (0-15 Southern) on the season after being defeated by the Chattanooga Mocs, 91-68, this past Wednesday. The Citadel had no answers defensively for the Mocs and couldn’t fight back after going into halftime trailing by a 40-28 margin. The Citadel shot 44.3% from the field, however, allowed Chattanooga to shoot 54.2% from the field and 39.3% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Tyson Batiste who had 9 points, 6 rebounds, and 7 assists.
On the season, The Citadel is averaging 75.7 ppg on 43.7% shooting from the field. The Bulldogs are averaging 9.3 three-pointers per game on 32.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, The Citadel has been led by Kaelon Harris (13.3 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 1.5 apg), Kaiden Rice (13.0 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 1.0 apg), and Fletcher Abee (11.8 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 1.4 apg, 1.1 spg).
Defensively, The Citadel is allowing their opponents to average 80.3 ppg on 43.7% shooting from the field. The Bulldogs have a rebound margin of -3.3 and a turnover margin of -1.3.
The Western Carolina Catamounts dropped to 16-10 (8-7 Southern) on the season after being defeated by the VMI Keydets, 74-71, this past Wednesday night. Catamount struggled offensively agianst the Keydets and couldn’t fight back after VMI took a 68-60 lead with 2:24 left in regulation. Western Carolina allowed VMI to shoot 48.1% from the field while the Catamounts shot just 37.3% from the field and 30.0% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Catamounts was Mason Faulkner who had 17 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists, and a steal.
On the season, Western Carolina is averaging 78.0 ppg on 46.2% shooting from the field. The Catamounts are averaging 9.7 three-pointers per game on 36.9% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Western Carolina has been led by Mason Faulkner (17.6 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 6.0 apg, 1.2 spg), Carlos Dotson (15.4 ppg, 10.0 rpg, 1.9 apg), and Onno Steger (12.1 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 1.3 apg).
Defensively, Western Carolina is allowing their opponents to average 74.4 ppg on 43.4% shooting from the field. The Catamounts have a rebound margin of 4.5 and a turnover margin of -2.2.
The Bulldogs are 1-8-1 ATS in their last 10 games and 4-13-1 ATS in their last 18 games vs. Western Carolina. The Catamounts are 1-4 ATS in their last 4 home games, however, are 4-2 ATS in their last 6 Saturday games.
The Citadel come into this game ranked T-60th in scoring offense, however the Bulldogs have one of the worst defenses in college basketball and currently rank just 339th in scoring defense and 291st in defensive FG%.
Western Carolina has been led by their offense this season which comes into this match-up ranked 31st in scoring offense, 49th in FG%, and 17th in three pointers made per game.
Western Carolina might have lost 3 of their last 4 games, however, the Catamounts are 8-4 at home on the season and as their offense should have no problem putting up 80-90 points agianst the Bulldogs, I think the Catamounts do enough to cover this double-digit spread. Good Luck!
