The Virginia Cavaliers (18-7, CONF 10-5) and Pitt Panthers (15-12, CONF 6-10) face off in an ACC showdown at the Petersen Events Center.
The Cavaliers had some struggles early in the season, but they seemed to turn a corner and coming into this game they have won three games in a row and six of their last seven games. The Cavaliers are a defense first team, but in their last game against Boston College the offense stepped up putting up 78 points.
Overall this season Virginia is averaging 57.6 points while the defense is giving up 52.6 points. Away from home, the Cavaliers defense is a little worse but still strong giving up 60 points per game.
Mamadi Diakite is the star of the Cavaliers averaging 13.5 points and 6.6 rebounds.
The Panthers are really struggling and coming into this game they have lost three games in a row and failed to cover the spread in each of those games. In Pitt’s last game the defense really struggled giving up 82 points against Florida State.
At home this season Pitt are averaging 66.9 points while the defense is giving up 62.2 points. The Panthers are led by Justin Champagnie who is averaging 12.4 points and shooting 42.4 percent from the field.
The Cavaliers are 7-16 ATS in the last 23 games overall. The Panthers are 3-9-1 ATS in their last 13 Saturday games. The under is 7-2 in the last nine meetings between the Cavaliers and Panthers.
The Cavaliers are the better team in this matchup, but they have done a terrible job covering spreads. Look for the Panthers to find just enough offensive success to cover the spread.
