The Evansville Purple Aces (9-18, CONF 0-14) and Southern Illinois Salukis (15-12, CONF 9-5) face off in a Missouri Valley showdown at SIU Arena. The Purple Aces and Salukis faced off earlier this month and it was Southern Illinois who came out with a four point victory in overtime.
Remember when the Purple Aces beat the Kentucky WIldcats earlier this season? A lot has changed since that point including coaches for Evansville, and they come into this game looking for their first win in conference play.
Even though the Purple Aces have lost all those games in a row, they have covered the spread in each of the last three games. Away from home this season Evansville is averaging only 61 points while the defense is giving up 71.
One of the big issues for the Purple Aces is their leading scorer Deandre Williams has only played in 15 games because of a back injury.
The Salukis have been strong this season, but they have lost three games in a row. Only a few games ago against Valop, Salukis only scored 38 points, and that led to a loss.
At home this season for Southern Illinois their defense has been the difference giving up only 58 points per game.
Southern Illinois is led by Marcus Domask who is averaging 14,6 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.
Evansville are 8-2-1 ATS in their last 11 meetings against the Salukis. The over is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings played between the Purple Aces and Salukis. Southern Illinois is 9-2 ATS in their last 11 home games. The under is 11-4 in the Purple Aces last 15 road games.
Evansville has covered three spreads in a row, and they are going to get the job done again in this game. Southern Illinois will find a way to win the game, but Evansville will keep it close enough to cover the spread.
