The Iona Gaels (9-12, 7-7 CONF) and the Siena Saints (13-10, 9-5 CONF) will meet on Wednesday, February 19th for a MAAC matchup at the Times Union Center in Albany, NY. The game will be played at 7:00 PM eastern time.
Iona is coming off a 78-70 home win over Marist in their last game. That home victory extended the Gaels current win streak to four games. Iona started conference play with a 3-7 record, and have now gotten it back to .500 with four straight wins. Siena is coming off a 65-52 home win over Manhattan on February 16th. Siena has now won three in a row, and four of their last five overall.
Iona scores 69.6 points per game on 43.2% FG shooting so far this season. The Gaels’ leading scorer is E.J. Crawford, who scores 17.9 PPG. Iona allows 71.6 points per game to the opposition, therefore they have a -2.0 scoring differential this season. Iona also earns 33.2 rebounds, 13.1 assists, 3.5 blocks, and 7.2 steals per game.
Siena scores 73.0 points per game on 45.4% FG shooting this season. Siena’s leading scorer is G Jalen Pickett, as he averages 15.5 PPG. Siena gives up 69.8 points per game to the opposition, thus they have a +3.2 point differential this season. Siena also earns 36.4 rebounds, 13.0 assists, 3.0 blocks, and 5.8 steals per game.
Iona is 6-14-1 ATS this season and 4-5-1 ATS in their last ten games. Iona is also 3-6 ATS on the road so far this season. Siena is 11-12 ATS this season and 6-4 ATS in their last ten games. Siena is also 8-4 ATS at home so far this season. Siena won the first meeting between these two teams, 87-64 at Iona.
Both teams have played great basketball as of late, but I will have to side with Siena at home in this spot. Siena has been great ATS at home this season, and they have already defeated Iona by a good margin, and that was a road game nonetheless. Siena -8 is the play from me.
