The Valparaiso Crusaders (14-13, CONF 7-7) and Drake Bulldogs (17-10, CONF 7-7) face in a Missouri Valley Conference showdown at the Knapp Center. The Crusaders knocked off the Bulldogs in early January by five points.
The Crusaders sit one game above .500 and they come into this game having won two games in a row. Two games ago against Southern Illinois, it was the defense that locked down for Valpo giving up only 38 points.
Overall this season the Crusaders are giving up 70 points per game, so the 38 points given up was a big change. Away from home for Valpo, the defense has really struggled giving up 74.2 points.
The Crusaders are led by Javon Freeman-Liberty who is averaging 19.4 points while shooting 43.9 percent from the field.
John Kiser is questionable for Valpo as he deals with a leg injury and if he can’t play, that is a blow to the depth of the Crusaders.
Drake has been really hard to beat at home, currently sitting with a 13-1 record in games played at the Knapp Center.
The Bulldogs defense has been the difference at home giving up only 66.4 points per game and letting opponents shoot 42 percent from the field. Drake is on offense by Liam Robbins who is averaging 13.7 points while shooting 50 percent from the field.
In the Bulldogs last game they put up 85 points against Evansville, and they are going to be hard to beat if they can up the score in this game.
The over is 12-5 in Valpo’s last 17 road games. The Bulldogs are 37-15-2 in their last 54 home games. The Crusaders are 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 road games.
The Bulldogs have been a hard team to knock off at home, and in this game, they are going to prove it. At home, Drake is giving up only 66.4 points a game, and that defense will be enough to cover the spread.
Shane’s Pick Drake -3.5
