The Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks (7-18, CONF 3-13) and Arkansas State Red Wolves (15-12, CONF 7-9) face off in a Sun Belt Conference showdown at the First National Bank Arena, The Red Wolves and Warhawks faced off in late December with Arkansas State winning by three points.
The Warhawks were a fine team to start the season but they have fallen off as late losing nine of the last ten games. The one win by the Warhawks was two games ago on the road against the Troy Trojans.
Louisiana-Monroe’s biggest issue has been the offense averaging only 55.6 points per game on the road, and in the last game they only put up 49 points.
On offense, the Warhawks are led by Michael Ertel who is averaging 16.2 points while shooting over 41 percent from the field. The Warhawks second-leading scorer JD Williams is out for the season with an ankle injury.
The Red Wolves also have really struggled losing five games in a row, and only covering the spread in two of those games.
Arkansas State is averaging 70.7 points while the defense is giving up 72.3. Over the last five games for the Red Wolves they are giving up 78 points per game.
The Red Wolves use a balanced attack on offense with six players averaging at least 8.5 points per game. If the Red Wolves can push the pace in this game, they should be in good shape to come away with a win.
The Warhawks are 2-6-1 ATS in their last nine road games. The Redhawks are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 meetings against the Red Wolves.
Both of these squads are struggling, but the Warhawks have the worst offense, and they aren’t going to keep up. Look for the Red Wolves to win this game by at least 15 points.
