The Davidson Wildcats will travel to Hagan Arena to take on the Saint Joseph’s Hawks this Tuesday night in College Basketball action.
The Davidson Wildcats won their 2nd straight game and improved to 13-11 (7-5 A-10) on the season after defeating the St. Bonaventure Bonnies, 93-64, this past Friday. Davidson was lights out offensively against St. Bonaventure and had no trouble securing the victory after the Wildcats went into halftime with a 47-28 lead. Davidson shot 55.9% from the field and 50.0% from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Wildcats was Jon Axel Gudmundsson who had 14 points, 11 rebounds, 8 assists, and 2 steals.
On the season, Davidson is averaging 73.1 ppg on 45.5% shooting from the field. The Wildcats are averaging 9.5 three-pointers per game on 36.8% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Davidson has been led by Kellan Grady (16.3 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 2.4 apg, 1.3 spg), Jon Axel Gudmundsson (14.0 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 4.8 apg, 1.3 spg), and Carter Collins (10.5 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 1.5 apg).
Defensively, Davidson is allowing their opponents to average 66.7 ppg on 42.2% shooting from the field. The Wildcats have a rebound margin of 0.2 and a turnover margin of 0.5.
The Saint Joseph’s Hawks lost their 7th consecutive game and dropped to 4-21 (0-12 A-10) on the season after being defeated by the Rhode Island Rams, 73-55 this past Saturday. Saint Joseph’s was competitive in the 1st half, entering halftime trailing by just a 35-31 margin, however, the Hawks offense struggled in the 2nd half and Saint Joseph’s couldn’t fight back after falling behind by a 63-43 margin with 6:03 left in regulation. Saint Joseph’s shot just 32.8% from the field and 29.6% from beyond the arc in the loss. Leading the way for the Hawks was Toliver Freeman who had 9 points, 13 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal.
On the season, Saint Joseph’s is averaging 69.0 ppg on 38.4% shooting from the field. The Hawks are averaging 9.1 three-pointers per game on 30.1% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Saint Joseph’s has been led by Ryan Daly (20.4 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 4.3 apg, 1.0 spg), Cameron Brown (9.1 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 1.2 apg), and Myles Douglas (8.4 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 1.4 apg).
Defensively, Saint Joseph’s is allowing their opponents to average 80.8 ppg on 46.3% shooting from the field. The Hawks have a rebound margin of -2.1 and a turnover margin of -4.0.
The Wildcats are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games, however, just 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games on the road. The Hawks are just 1-5-1 ATS in their last 7 games and 1-8 ATS in their last 9 road games.
Davison has been solid on both ends of the court this season as the Wildcats come into this game ranked 123rd in scoring offense, 83rd in FG%, and 105th in scoring defense.
Saint Joseph’s has struggled in all areas this season and come into this match-up ranked just 240th in scoring offense, 342nd in scoring defense, and 319th defensive FG%.
There is no question that Davidson is the better team however, Saint Joseph’s did give the Wildcats a run for their money on the road earlier this season in an 89-83 loss. Davidson looked great agianst St. Bonaventure, however the Wildcats are just 4-6 on the road this season and as I think the Hawks will be able to have some success offensively agianst Davidson at home, I think this is just too many points to pass up on. Good Luck!
