The Villanova Wildcats (18-6, 8-4 CONF) and the Temple Owls (13-11, 5-7 CONF) will meet on Sunday, February 16th for a “Battle of Pennsylvania” matchup at the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, PA. The game will be played at 1:00 PM eastern time.
Villanova finally snapped their three-game losing streak with a win over Marquette at home, 72-71, in a very exciting game. Villanova is still ranked #15 in the country despite their losing streak. Villanova is 4-3 straight up on the road this season. Temple is currently on a two-game win streak, and they have won three of their last four. Temple defeated Tulane 72-68 on the road in their last game. This will be the first non-conference game for either team in a while, but it still should be very competitive.
Villanova currently owns a +6.3 scoring differential on the season. The Wildcats score 73.5 points per game on 43.7% FG shooting. F Saddiq Bey leads the team in scoring, as he averages 15.7 PPG. Villanova also allows 67.2 points per game to the opposition. Villanova earns 35.9 rebounds, 14.6 assists, 2.9 blocks, and 5.9 steals per game.
Temple’s offense has started to heat up, as recently the Owls have put up more points than usual. On the season, Temple scores 69.3 points per game on 41.1% FG shooting. G Quinton Rose leads the Owls in scoring, as he averages 16.2 PPG. Temple also earns 37.9 rebounds, 14.2 assists, 2.8 blocks, and 8.1 steals per game.
Villanova is 10-12-2 ATS on the season and 4-5-1 ATS in their last ten games. Villanova is also 3-3-1 ATS on the road so far this season. Temple is 11-13 ATS this season and 4-6 ATS in their last ten games. Temple is also 5-6 ATS at home so far this season.
I think that Villanova is feeling a lot better after their win over Marquette. The Wildcats needed a win to end their slump, and now should be playing with a lot more confidence. I am going to take Villanova to cover the reasonable spread of 6 points.
