The Line: Montana Grizzlies -13 -- Over/Under: 143.5
The Idaho State Bengals will travel to Dahlberg Arena to take on the Montana Grizzlies this Saturday night in College Basketball action.
The Idaho State Bengals lost their 9th straight game and dropped to 6-17 (3-11 Big Sky) on the season after being defeated by the Montana State Bobcats, 73-69, this past Thursday. Idaho State struggled defensively against the Bobcats and although the Bengals made the game competitive late, Idaho State couldn’t fight all the way back after going into halftime trailing by a 41-29 margin. Idaho State allowed Montana State to shoot 56.0% from the field and were outrebounded by the Bobcats by a 37-29 margin in the loss. Leading the way for the Bengals was Malik Porter who had 14 points, 5 rebounds, 2 blocks, and a steal.
On the season, Idaho State is averaging 69.0 ppg on 45.3% shooting from the field. The Bengals are averaging 6.7 three-pointers per game on 34.5% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Idaho State has been led by Tarik Cool (13.1 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 3.5 apg, 1.0 spg), Chier Maker (11.4 ppg, 5.6 rpg), and Malik Porter (10.9 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 1.0 apg, 1.1 bpg).
Defensively, Idaho State is allowing their opponents to average 71.0 ppg on 47.4% shooting from the field. The Bengals have a rebound margin of 1.4 and a turnover margin of -2.1.
The Montana Grizzlies won their 4th straight game and improved to 15-10 (11-3 Big Sky) on the season after defeating the Weber State Wildcats, 72-37, this past Thursday. Montana dominated Weber State on both sides of the ball and had no trouble securing the victory after taking a 38-21 halftime lead. Montana shot 53.7% from the field and forced Weber State into committing 21 turnovers in the victory. Leading the way for the Grizzlies was Sayeed Pridgett who had 25 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists.
On the season, Montana is averaging 71.2 ppg on 46.6% shooting from the field. The Grizzlies are averaging 5.7 three-pointers per game on 35.8% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Montana has been led by Sayeed Pridgett (19.6 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 3.6 apg, 1.4 spg), Kendal Manuel (15.3 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 1.9 apg), and Timmy Falls (7.1 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 2.7 apg, 1.2 spg).
Defensively, Montana is allowing their opponents to average 68.8 ppg on 43.1% shooting from the field. The Grizzlies have a rebound margin of -2.3 and a turnover margin of 2.5.
The Bengals are 12-8-1 ATS on the season, however, are just 5-12-1 ATS in their last 18 games against Montana. The Grizzlies are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games and are 11-12 ATS on the season.
Idaho State has lost 11 of their last 12 games and have struggled on both ends of the court as the Bengals rank just 248th in scoring offense, 229th in scoring defense, and 337th in defensive FG%.
Montana has won 8 of their last 10 games and come into this match-up ranked 177th in scoring offense, 38th in FG%, and 166th in scoring defense.
Montana showed why there are the top team in the Big Sky after their dismantling of Weber State, and has been lights out at home as of late, winning their last three home games by an average of 19.7 ppg. Idaho State played the Grizzlies tough at home earlier this season in a 77-74 lost, however, as the Bengals are just 2-10 on the road and should have trouble slowing Sayeed Pridgett and the Montana offense, I’m taking Montana to cover this double-digit home spread. Good Luck!
