The Bowling Green Falcons (18-7, 9-3 CONF) and the Ball State Cardinals (14-10, 7-4 CONF) will meet on Saturday, February 15th for a MAC conference matchup at Worthen Arena in Muncie, IN. The game will be played at 1:00 PM eastern time.
Bowling Green has lost two of their last three games, after starting 8-1 in conference play. In their last game, BGSU lost on the road to Akron, 74-59. Lopsided scores like that one have been rare for BGSU this season. BGSU has struggled on the road as of late, as both of their most recent losses were away from home. Ball State took down NIU at home, 63-59 in their last game. They are in the middle of the pack in the MAC standings and look to add a strong home win to their resume.
Bowling Green’s offense struggled badly in the loss to Akron, but on the season they are still scoring 75.4 points per game. Bowling Green’s defense has also struggled as of late, and on the season they allow 72.9 points per game to the opposition. G Justin Turner leads the Falcons in scoring by averaging 18.6 points per game on 44.1% FG shooting. Bowling Green also earns 39.6 rebounds, 12.4 assists, 2.4 blocks, and 5.7 steals per game.
Ball State prides itself on strong defense and limiting opponents’ total possessions. Ball State only allows the opposition to score 61.8 points per game, which puts their defense among the country’s best. Ball State scores 69.5 points per game on offense, which puts their scoring differential at +7.7. Ball State also earns 35.6 rebounds, 13.8 assists, 3.5 blocks, and 6.9 steals per game.
Bowling Green is 8-13-2 ATS this season and 4-5-1 ATS in their last ten games. Bowling Green is also 5-3 ATS on the road this season. Ball State is 12-11 ATS this season and 5-5 ATS in their last ten games. Ball State is also 6-4 ATS at home so far this season.
I will admit, I am kind of confused about this spread. BGSU defeated Ball State by six points in the first meeting of these two teams, so it does not make sense as to why Ball State is favorite by six whole points. I think BGSU is the better team, and even though they are coming off a bad loss, I still think they can keep this game close and win outright. BGSU +6 the points is the play from me.
