The BYU Cougars (19-7, 8-3 CONF) and the Loyola Marymount Lions (8-16, 2-8 CONF) will meet on Thursday, February 13th for a WCC matchup at the Gerstern Pavillion in Los Angeles, CA. The game will be played at 11:00 PM eastern time.

BYU is riding a four-game win streak into this game, defeating some tough opponents in Saint Marys and San Francisco. In their most recent win over SF, BYU put up 90 points in the 90-76 victory. Loyola Marymount has struggled badly all season long, as the Lions are a measly 8-16 and have only two conference wins so far this season. Their last win came back on January 23rd to Portland State, but since then, Loyola Marymount has dropped their last four games, all of which were West Coast Conference games.

BYU loves to score fast and often, as the Cougars put up 80.5 points per game on an amazing 50.8% FG. BYU also plays solid defensively, as the Cougars allow 69.0 points per game, which is not too shabby in a very high-scoring conference like the WCC with juggernauts like Gonzaga. BYU owns a +11.5 scoring differential, which is boastful in itself. BYU also earns 33.1 rebounds, 17.8 assists, and 2.0 blocks per game.

Loyola Marymount is not proud to own a -3 scoring differential this season, which obviously will not win many ball games. Loyola Marymount has struggled to find consistency on offense, as the Lions only score 65.5 points per game, which does not cut it in the WCC. Loyola Marymount allows 68.5 points per game to the opposition, which is actually not too bad and is better than BYU by .5. Loyola Marymount has struggled to rebound the ball well this season, as they only earn 29.8 boards per game. Loyola Marymount also earns 12.3 assists, 1.9 blocks, and 6.3 steals per game.

BYU is 16-9 ATS this season and 7-3 ATS in their last ten games. BYU is also 4-4 ATS on the road so far this season. Loyola Marymount is 10-12-1 ATS this season and 5-5 ATS in their last ten games. Loyola Marymount is also 5-6-1 ATS at home so far this season.

BYU is the much better team in this matchup, as Loyola Marymount has been terrible all season long. I think this is actually a reasonable amount of points to lay with BYU, as I expected it to be around the 13-14 range. I will take BYU -11.5.
