College Basketball: Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at 7:00 pm (McKenzie Arena)
The Line: Chattanooga Mocs -8.5 -- Over/Under: 141.5
The VMI Keydets and the Chattanooga Mocs meet in college basketball action from McKenzie Arena on Wednesday.
VMI enters this one at 7-18 on the year. After a four-game losing streak versus Wofford, Mercer, Furman and Wofford again, the Keydets won their last game versus the Citadel on Saturday.
In the win over the Bulldogs, VMI’s Greg Parham led the team on 36 points with five assists and two rebounds. Garrett Gilkeson added 11 points with six rebounds and three assists in that one as well.
Over on the Chattanooga side, they’re 15-10 this year. The Mocs are 2-3 in their last five games, with losses to East Tennessee State twice and WCU alongside wins over Samford and Wofford.
In the win over the Terriers, Chattanooga’s Matt Ryan led the way with 25 points, two rebounds and one assist. Maurice Commander turned in a nice line there as well with 22 points, four rebounds and two assists.
Chattanooga is 4-0 ATS in their last four versus a team with a losing straight-up record and 8-2-2 ATS in their last 12 home games versus a team with a losing road record. The over is 5-1 in the Mocs’ last six overall and 4-1 in their last five Wednesday games.
Meanwhile, the Keydets are 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 road games and 3-0-1 ATS in their last four after a straight-up win. VMI is 4-1-1 ATS in their last six overall and the under is 4-1 in their last five road games.
After a bit of a scoring lull, the Keydets have been pretty solid in that department lately, posting at least 72 points in each of their last three games. That said, the better-scoring teams seem to do pretty well against them, as with 153 combined points in the Furman and Wofford games.
As for Chattanooga, they’ve been pretty spotty with their offense lately but they logged 84 in the Saturday game. I like the Mocs to turn in a cover here.
