The Line: Saint Joseph's Hawks +7.5 -- Over/Under: 146
The St. Bonaventure Bonnies and the Saint Joseph’s Hawks meet in A-10 conference college basketball action from the Hagan Arena on Tuesday night.
The St. Bonaventure Bonnies will look to add to their current four-game winning streak after an 83-80 win over Duquesne last time out. Kyle Lofton led the group of double-digit scorers for the Bonnies with 21 pints including 5 threes and 7 assists while Dominick Welch and Osun Osunniyi each had 9 rebounds while scoring 14 and 12 point respectively. Lofton leads the Bonnies with 14 points and a team-high 6.2 assists per game while Welch, Osunniyi and Jaren English are each averaging double-digits scoring with Osunniyi averaging 10.4 points and a team-high 9.1 rebounds per game this season. As a team, St. Bonaventure is averaging 68.8 points per game on 43.4% shooting from the field, 34.1% from behind the 3-point line and 73.9% from the foul line while allowing opponents to average 64.8 points per game on 41.2% shooting from the field and 33.4% from behind the 3-point line.
The Saint Joseph’s Hawks will still be looking for their first conference win after sinking to 0-10 in conference play and staying in the basement of the A-10 with an 83-68 loss to La Salle last time out. Ryan Daly led the Hawks with 26 points coming on 9 of 16 shooting with 3 threes along with 6 rebounds while Myles Douglas had a team-high 4 assists and Rahmir Moore added 8 points with a team-high 7 rebounds off of the bench. Daly continues to lead the Hawks in the major individual stat categories with averages of 20.2 points, 7.6 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game this season. As a team, Saint Joseph’s is averaging 70.1 points per game on 38.7% shooting from the field, 30.4% from behind the arc and 70% from the foul line while allowing 81.4 points per game on 46.3% shooting from the field and 37% from behind the arc this season.
St. Bonaventure is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 19-7-1 ATS in their last 27 games against a team with a losing record while the over is 3-0-1 in their last 4 road games. Saint Joseph’s is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 10-3-1 ATS in their last 14 games as a home underdog while the over is 5-0 in their last 5 games following a loss. The underdog is 6-1-1 ATS in the last 8 meetings between these two teams.
The points could be worth a look as the underdog’s had a lot of success in this matchup and the Hawks have had a lot of success against the number in the home underdog role. However, the problem here is that the Hawks are just a bad basketball team and the Bonnies are just playing really well right now, I’m not sure it can get more cut and dry like that. I see this being a double-digit victory for St. Bonaventure, so I’ll lay the points with the Bonnies on the road in this one.
