The Line: Colorado State Rams +1 -- Over/Under: 144
The Utah State Aggies and the Colorado State Rams meet in Mountain West conference college basketball action from the Moby Arena on Tuesday night.
The Utah State Aggies will try to escape out of a logjam in the Mountain West standings after winning 5 of their last 6 games following a 70-61 win over Boise State last time out. Neemias Queta led the Aggies with 21 points while Sam Merrill had 17 points with 4 assists and Justin Bean had a team-high 16 rebounds. Merrill leads the Aggies with 17.8 points and 4 assists while Justin Bean is averaging 12.4 points and a team-high 10.4 rebounds for an average of a double-double per game. Queta is the 3rd and last double-digit scorer for the Aggies this season, averaging 12.3 points per game this year. As a team, Utah State is averaging 76.7 points on 45.2% shooting from the field, 32.2% from behind the arc and 77.3% from the foul line while allowing their opposition to average 63.8 points on 39.2% shooting from the field and 30.2% from the 3-point line this season.
The Colorado State Rams will look to jump ahead of the Aggies after winning three straight and eight of their last nine games following an 80-70 win over Fresno State last time out. Nico Carvacho led the Rams with 17 points and a team-high 16 rebounds for the double-double while Isaiah Stevens added 13 points and a team-high 8 assists as all five starters for Colorado State scored in double figures in the winning effort. Stevens leads Colorado State with 13.4 points and 4.9 assists while Nico Carvacho is averaging a double-double per game with 12.6 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. David Roddy and Adam Thistlewood are averaging double-digits scoring for the Rams as well this season. As a team, Colorado State is averaging 76.5 points per game on47.3% shooting from the field, 37.1% from behind the arc and 68.1% from the foul line while allowing opponents to average 71.6 points on 44.5% shooting from the field and 34% from 3-point range this season.
Utah State is 16-36 ATS in their last 52 road games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall. Colorado State is 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 5-0 in their last 5 home games.
This should be a heck of a game between two of the top teams in the Mountain West. With that said, as good as Utah State’s been this season, a lot of the success has come at home as the Aggies are just 2-5 SU and 1-6 ATS on the road this season. The Rams haven’t been great against the number at home, but the Rams are 10-3 SU and with the line being so low, I tend to lean heavier towards the side that has the better home/away SU record, so I’ll take my chances with Colorado State laying the point at home here.
