The Campbell Camels and the Longwood Lancers meet in Big South conference college basketball action from Willett Hall on Monday night.
The Campbell Camels will look to build on a 79-62 win over Presbyterian last time out. Cedric Henderson Jr. led the Camels with 25 points on 11 of 14 shooting while Cory Gensler had 20 points on 7 of 9 shooting with 4 threes. Joshua Lusane added a team-high 6 assists as well in the winning effort. Henderson Jr. and Gensler are Campbell’s two double-digit scorers this season with Henderson Jr. leading the way with 12.7 points per game while Gensler has 10 points and a team-high 4.8 rebounds per game. As a team, Campbell is averaging 69.4 points per game on 45.6% shooting from the field, 34% from behind the arc and 73.7% from the foul line while allowing 67.5 points per game on 44.6% shooting from the field and 31.3% from 3-point range.
The Longwood Lancers will look to bounce back from a 70-68 loss to Winthrop last time out. Juan Munoz led Longwood with 24 points on 8 of 14 shooting with 4 threes while Jashaun Smith had 15 points and 5 rebounds. Jordan Cintron added 9 points with team-highs of 6 rebounds and 4 steals as well in the loss. Shabooty Phillips leads Longwood in scoring with 11 points per game while Smith and Munoz each have double-digit scoring averages this season including Munoz who has 10.9 points and a team-high 3.3 assists per game. Cintron leads the Lancers in rebounding with 6.5 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Longwood is averaging 68.3 points per game on 40.3% shooting from the field, 33.7% from behind the 3-point line and 71.8% from the foul line this season. Defensively, the Lancers are allowing 70.1 points per game on 43.7% shooting from the field and 34.6% from behind the arc this season.
Campbell is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games against a team with a losing record while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games following a win and 4-1 in their last 5 road games. Longwood is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 home games while the under is 5-2 in their last 7 games following a loss.
The free point with the Camels is worth a look, but the problem is that picking up wins has been a lot easier for Longwood lately than it has been for Campbell and with the line this low, if you side with Campbell, you’re basically saying the Camels win on the road and I’m just not seeing it here. Longwood is outscoring teams by 4.4 points per game at home while Campbell is being outscored by 2.8 points per game on the road this season, and that’s enough for me. I’ll lay the points with Longwood at home here.
