The UNC Asheville Bulldogs and the Hampton Pirates meet in college basketball action from Hampton Convocation Center on Monday.
UNC Asheville enters this one at 10-12 this year. After a three-game losing streak versus USC Upstate, Gardner-Webb and Winthrop, the Bulldogs got a win their last time out versus USC Upstate.
In the win over the Spartans, UNC Asheville’s Devon Baker led the team with 30 points and four rebounds, while Lavar Batts had 12 points. Both Tajion Jones and LJ Thorpe finished with 11 points there as well.
Over on the Hampton side, they’re 10-13 this year. The Pirates are 1-3 in their last four games, beating Presbyterian while falling to Radford, High Point and Charleston Southern otherwise.
In the loss to the Buccaneers, Hampton’s Benjamin Stanley led the way on 20 points with six rebounds. Jermaine Marrow added 19 points in that one, and Davion Warren had 18 points with nine rebounds.
Hampton is 3-1-1 ATS in their last five after a straight-up loss and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 Monday games. The Pirates are 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven home games and the over is 6-0 in their last six home games.
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs are 1-4 ATS in their last five Monday games and 1-4 ATS in their last five after an ATS win. UNC-Asheville is 4-9 ATS in their last 13 overall and the under is 4-1 in the last five Monday games.
Over their last four games, the Bulldogs have been pretty permissive on defense, hence the 1-3 record in that time. UNC Asheville has given up at least 70 in each of their last four outings, including 104 to Winthrop on February 1.
As for the Pirates, they’ve got something of the same issue, giving up at least 74 points in each of their last 10 outings. This should be a pretty fun and high-scoring matchup, but I like the Bulldogs to keep pace here and cover.
