The William & Mary Tribe and the UNC-Wilmington Seahawks meet in college basketball action from Trask Coliseum on Saturday.
The Tribe come into this one at 16-9 so far. William & Mary are 1-3 in their last four games, beating Northeastern while otherwise dropping to Towson, Hofstra and Charleston.
In the loss to the Cougars, William & Mary’s Nathan Knight carried the team on 28 points with 18 rebounds and one assist as the only double-digit scorer. Next-closest was Andy Van Vliet with eight points and seven boards.
Over on the UNC-Wilmington side, they’re 7-18 this year. The Seahawks are currently riding a three-game losing streak, falling to Towson, James Madison and Elon in that stretch.
In the loss to the Phoenix, UNC-Wilmington’s lead scorer was Ty Gadsden with 15 points, five rebounds and two assists. Mike Okauru added 11 points with seven rebounds there as well, and Maritn Linssen had nine points with five boards.
UNC-Wilmington is 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight Saturday gams and 1-5 ATS in their last six after an ATS loss. The Seahawks are 2-5 ATS in the last seven home games and 4-10-1 ATS in their last 15 overall.
Meanwhile, the Tribe are 1-4 ATS in their last five after a straight-up loss and 2-5 ATS in their last seven after an ATS loss. William & Mary are 0-4 ATS in their last four overall and the under is 4-0 in their last four overall.
William & Mary have been in a scoring slump over their last six games. During that time the Tribe have been at or below 60 points in five of the half-dozen outings. W&M is more of a defensive team, but that’s still a pretty alarming stat.
As for UNCW, they’ve been pretty flat over their last three games as well, with 66 or fewer scored in each. I’m not really thrilled about the matchup, but I think William & Mary can bounce back here.
