The UTEP Miners and the Old Dominion Monarchs meet in college basketball action from Ted Constant Convocation Center on Saturday.
UTEP enters this game at 13-11 so far. The Miners are 1-3 in their last four games, taking out Middle Tennessee while otherwise falling to North Texas, UAB and Charlotte in that time.
In the loss to the 49ers, UTEP’s Daryl Edwards put up 24 points with three assists and one rebound. Souley Boum put up 20 points with one rebound there as the only other Miners player in double-figures.
Over on the Old Dominion side, they’re 9-15 this year. The Monarchs won consecutive games versus Florida Atlantic and Southern Miss, but they’ve lost their last two to LA Tech and UTSA.
In the loss to the Roadrunners, Old Dominion’s Malik Curry led the way with 30 points, four assists and one rebound. Anthony Oliver added 20 points there, and Aaron Carver pulled down a whopping 20 rebounds.
Old Dominion is 7-1-1 ATS in their last nine Saturday games and 10-4-1 ATS in their last 15 overall. The over is 5-2 in the Monarchs’ last seven home games and the under is 6-1 in their last seven Saturday games.
Meanwhile, the Miners are 1-5 ATS in their last six Saturday games and 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight overall. The under is 4-1 in UTEP’s last five overall and 5-2 in their last seven road games.
Over the last four games, the Miners haven’t scored more than 67 points in any game, and they were even below 58 in two of their losses. UTEP isn’t necessarily a dominant offensive team, but they’re usually more adept at scoring than that.
As for Old Dominion, their issues in their last three losses have been defensive, as they’ve given up 76 or more in each of those outings. Still, the Monarchs seem to be scoring well enough lately for me to take them on a cover here.
