The Northeastern Huskies and the Hofstra Pride meet in CAA college basketball action from Mack Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon.
The Northeastern Huskies will be out to snap a three-game losing streak after a 74-69 loss to Elon last time out. Jordan Roland led the Huskies with 19 points while Shaquille Walters added 11 points on 4 of 7 shooting. Maxime Boursiquot, Bolden Brace and Guillen Smith each had 10 points to finish off the scoring in double figures for Northeastern in the win with Boursiquot shooting 4 of 8 with a team-high 8 rebounds. Boland leads Northeastern in scoring with an average of 23 points per game while Brace leads the Huskies in rebounding with 6.1 rebounds per game and Tyson Walker leads Northeastern in assists with 3.9 assists per game this season. As a team, Northeastern is averaging 72.4 points per game on 47.4% shooting from the field, 39.3% from behind the arc and 80.2% from the foul line this season.
The Hofstra Pride will look to add to their current three-game winning streak after an 83-60 win over William & Mary last time out. Desure Buie led the Pride with 22 points on 9 of 15 shooting with 4 threes and a team-high 7 assists while Tareq Coburn added 19 points on 6 of 12 shooting with 4 threes and Eli Pemberton added 16 points. Isaac Kante added 13 points on 6 of 6 shooting with 11 rebounds for the double-double while Jalen Ray added 10 points and 4 assists to finish off the scoring in double figures for Hofstra in the win as all five Pride scored in double figures in the winning effort. Buie leads Hofstra in scoring and assists with an average of 18.5 points and 5.6 assists per game while Kante leads the Pride in rebounding with 7.4 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Hofstra is averaging 76.7 points per game on 44.9% shooting from the field, 35.7% from behind the 3-point line and 77.1% from the foul line this season.
Northeastern is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 road games and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 Saturday games while the over is 9-4 in their last 13 road games against a team with a winning home record. Hofstra is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 home games while the under is 4-1-1 in their last 6 games following a win. The underdog is 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings between these two teams.
I get why points with Northeastern would be tempting as the Huskies have been decent on the road this season. However, the Huskies have also dropped three in a row, while Hoftsra’s won three straight and are starting to pick up momentum at the right time. We’ve been on Hofstra a lot this season, and it’s paid off especially well at home, so I’ll lay the points with the Pride at home here.
