The San Francisco Dons and the BYU Cougars meet in college basketball action from Marriott Center on Saturday.
San Francisco enters this game at 16-9 on the year. After consecutive wins over BYU and San Diego, the Dons have lost their last two games versus Gonzaga and Pacific.
In the loss to the Tigers, San Francisco’s Jimbo Lull posted a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebonds. Charles Minlend also finished in double-digits there with 13 points, three rebounds and two assists.
Over on the BYU side, they’re 18-7 this year. Since last falling to the Dons, BYU has won three straight over Pepperdine, Saint Mary’s and Portland during their last trio of outings.
In the win over the Pilots, BYU’s lead scorers were Yoeli Childs and Jake Toolson, each with 22 points and a combined three assists and 11 rebounds. Alex Barcello added 17 points with four rebounds there also.
BYU is 8-2 ATS in their last 10 home games and 11-4 ATS in their last 15 overall. The over is 7-2 in the Cougars’ last nine overall and 4-0 in their last four Saturday games.
Meanwhile, the Dons are 8-18-2 ATS in their last 28 Saturday games and 7-18-2 ATS in the last 27 after an ATS loss. San Francisco is 5-12-1 ATS in their last 18 road games and the under is 7-3 in their last 10 overall.
San Francisco played pretty well versus Gonzaga, but they came up limp in the Thursday Pacific game, managing a tepid 48 points in a 12-point loss. The Dons have been something of an all-or-nothing team lately; they’re either mostly dominant or mostly ineffective.
As for BYU they’ve been pretty darn good over their last five games, posting at least 74 points in each outing. The Dons got an 83-82 home win the last time these teams met up, but I think BYU gets some revenge here.
