The Detroit Mercy Titans and the Wright State Raiders meet in Horizon League college basketball action from the Nutter Center on Thursday night.
The Detroit Mercy Titans will look to rebound after a 77-64 loss to Detroit in their last outing. Antoine Davis led the Titans with 25 points with 4 threes and team-highs of 6 assists and 4 steals. Justin Miller added 15 points on 5 of 6 shooting with the same mark from the foul line in addition to 4 rebounds while Dwayne Rose Jr. added 13 points with a team-high 6 rebounds and a pair of steals as well in the losing effort. Davis leads Detroit Mercy in scoring and assists with an average of 23.4 points and 4.5 assists per game while Chris Brandon leads the Titans in rebounding with 7.5 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Detroit Mercy is averaging 68.8 points per game on 38.4% shooting from the field, 31.9% from behind the arc and 79.1% from the foul line this season.
The Wright State Raiders will look to rebound from a 92-89 loss to Green Bay last time out. Loudon Love led the Raiders with 21 points on 7 of 14 shooting with 9 rebounds while Tanner Holden added 19 points on 7 of 9 shooting with a pair of threes and 3 steals and James Manns added 11 points with 3 threes to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for Wright State in the losing effort. Cole Gentry added 5 points with a team-high 7 assists while Jaylon Hall had 7 points with 3 steals and Jordan Ash added 7 points with a team-high 11 rebounds. Love leads the Raiders in scoring and rebounding by averaging a double-double per game with averages of 15.5 points and 10.1 rebounds per game while Hall leads the Raiders in assists with 3.2 assists per game this season. As a team, Wright State is averaging 81.1 points per game on 45.2% shooting from the field, 35.8% from behind the 3-point line and 66.7% from the foul line this season.
Detroit Mercy is 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall and 5-0 ATS in their last 7 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games following a loss. Wright State is 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 home games and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games overall while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a losing record. The home team is 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings between these two teams.
I’m tempted by Detroit Mercy and the points but the problem is that as well as the Titans have battled in conference play, Detroit Mercy has struggled on the road, allowing 84.3 points per game and being outscored by 15.5 points per game. With that said, the Titans have also battled tough in conference play away from home, and the Raiders haven’t been great against the number lately. I think the Raiders win this game, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Titans put up a fight here as well. I’ll take a stab at Detroit Mercy and the points in this one.
