The North Texas Mean Green and the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders meet in college basketball action from Murphy Center on Thursday.
North Texas comes in here at 14-9 so far. Following a nice eight-game winning streak, the Mean Green lost their last game 84-75 to Rice back on Saturday to kick off February on a bad note.
In the loss to the Owls, North Texas’ Umoja Gibson and DJ Draper each scored 18 points with two assists. Javion Hamlet added 15 points and seven assists there, and James Reese had 12 points with four rebounds.
Over on the Middle Tennessee side, they’re 6-17 this year. The Blue Raiders are 2-1 in the last three games, with a loss to UTEP sandwiched between wins over Southern Miss and UTSA.
In the win over the Roadrunners, Middle Tennessee’s CJ Jones and Eli Lawrence led the team with 27 points apiece, combining for two assists and 10 rebounds. Jo’Vantae Millner added 10 points there as well.
The Raiders are 4-0 ATS in their lsat four Thursday games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games. MTSU is 2-6 ATS in their last eight after an ATS win and the over is 5-1 in their last six Thursday games.
Meanwhile, the Mean Green are 4-1 ATS in their last five Thursday games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games. North Texas is 13-3 ATS in their last 16 overall and the under is 12-3 in their last 15 road games.
During their winning streak, the Mean Green weren’t necessarily dominant offensively every outing, but on the whole they kept their opponents’ offenses in check. There were a couple of close calls in there as well, however most were pretty solid outings for North Texas.
As for Middle Tennessee, they’re pretty sporadic with their big-scoring outings, but generally when the Raiders finish above 70 it’s a pretty close game. I’m going with North Texas on the cover here.
