The Northern Kentucky Norse and the Milwaukee Panthers meet in Horizon League college basketball action from UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena on Sunday afternoon.
The Northern Kentucky Norse will look to build on a 71-62 win over Green Bay last time out. Bryson Langdon led the Norse with 22 points on 6 of 10 shooting with 5 threes while Jalen Tate added 17 points on 7 of 13 shooting with a team-high 12 rebounds for the double-double and Dantez Walton added 15 points with 10 rebounds and 3 steals for a double-double of his own. Trevon Faulkner added 10 points with 6 rebounds to cap off the group of double-digit scorers for NKU in the win. Walton leads Northern Kentucky in scoring and rebounding with an average of 18.1 points and 7.4 rebounds per game while Langdon leads the Norse in assists with 3.8 assists per game this season. As a team, Northern Kentucky is averaging 73.7 points per game on 44.5% shooting from the field, 32% from behind the arc and 68.7% from the foul line this season.
The Milwaukee Panthers will look to rebound from back-to-back losses after a 65-61 loss to Wright State last time out. Te’Jon Lucas led the Panthers with 18 points on 6 of 14 shooting with a team-high 6 rebounds and 4 assists while Josh Thomas added 11 points with 5 rebounds as the only other Milwaukee player to score in double figures in the losing effort. Darius Roy had 8 points but still leads the Panthers in scoring with an average of 15.2 points per game while Lucas leads the Panthers in assists with 4.7 assists per game and DeAndre Abram leads Milwaukee in rebounding with 5.5 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Milwaukee is averaging 71.9 points per game on 40.6% shooting from the field, 30.7% from behind the arc and 69.1% from the foul line this season.
Northern Kentucky is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 10-3 in their last 13 road games. Milwaukee is 2-6 ATS in their last 8 home games and 5-11-1 ATS in their last 17 games overall while the over is 7-1 in their last 8 games following a loss.
I’ve gone back and forth on this game and the points with a home dog are usually tempting. However, Northern Kentucky is simply the better team here and are a team that I think needs to be watched out for now that the Norse have Dantez Walton back and are fully healthy. The Panthers just haven’t been covering with enough consistency to give the points any real value here, so I’ll lay the points with Northern Kentucky here.
Chris’s Pick Northern Kentucky -5.5
