The Hofstra Pride (16-7, 7-3 CONF) and the William & Mary Tribe (16-7, 8-2 CONF) will meet on Saturday, February 1st for a Colonial Athletic Conference matchup at Kaplan Arena in Williamsburg, VA. The game will be played at 4:00 PM eastern time.
Hofstra has won back-to-back games, both CAA conference games against Drexel and Elon respectively. In the win over Elon (86-63), Eli Pemberton led the Pride in scoring with 26 points on 9/15 shooting from the field. William & Mary is coming off a very important win over Northeastern at home, 59-58 in a nailbiter. Nathan Knight led the Tribe in scoring in the victory with 17 points. He also punched in the game-winning layup to defeat the Huskies for the second time this season.
Hofstra is an offense-first team, as the Pride scores 76.4 points per game off 44.5% FG shooting. Hofstra allows 70.0 points per game to the opposition, which is around the conference’s average. Hofstra also earns 35.4 rebounds, 12.2 assists, 1.8 blocks, and 7.0 steals per contest as well.
William & Mary scores 72.5 points per game off 46.8% FG shooting. Their offense has not played as well in the previous two games, so the Tribe will look to figure it out in this game. William & Mary allows 68.1 points per game to the opposition. William & Mary also earns 36.1 rebounds, 13.8 assists, 3.8 blocks, 4.6b steals per game.
Hofstra is 15-7 ATS this season and 7-3 ATS in their last ten games. Hofstra is also 8-4 ATS on the road so far this season. William & Mary is 14-8 ATS this season and 6-4 ATS in their last ten games. William & Mary is also 6-2 ATS at home so far this season.
Hofstra was taken to town against William and Mary in their previous meeting this season, an 88-61 loss for the Pride. However, I think this game will be much different and much closer, as these two teams fight for positioning in the CAA. With all of that being said, I still like William & Mary to get the small cover at home, but this most likely will not be a blowout win like last time. I will take William & Mary -2.
