The Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks and the Texas-Arlington Mavericks meet in college basketball action from Strahan Coliseum on Saturday.
Louisiana-Monroe enters this game at 6-14 so far. The Warhawks have lost seven straight versus Coastal Carolina, GA Southern, Georgia State, Texas State, TX-Arlington, Louisiana and Texas State.
In the latest loss to the Bobcats, Louisiana-Monroe’s top scorer was Michael Ertel with 18 points, four rebounds and four assists. Tyree White was also in double-figures there with 15 points and seven rebounds.
Over on the TX-Arlington side, they’re 9-13 this year. The Mavericks had a three-game win streak going versus Louisiana, LA-Monroe and Texas State but lost to Louisiana on Thursday.
In the loss to the Cajuns, Texas-Arlington’s David Azore put up 14 points with six rebounds and three assists. Brian Warren added 12 points with eight assists there, and Radshad Davis pulled down 10 rebounds with seven points and four assists.
The over is 5-1 in the Mavericks’ last six Saturday games and they’re 12-4-1 ATS in their last 17 Saturday games. The Mavericks are 1-5 ATS in their last six home games and the under is 14-6 in the last 20 home games.
Meanwhile, the Warhawks are 1-5 ATS in their last six Saturday games and 0-5-1 ATS in their last six road games. LA-Monroe is 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven overall and the over is 4-1 in the last five overall.
Louisiana-Monroe just doesn’t have a deep enough roster this year to put up big points totals consistently, and they’ve been under 70 points in each of their last eight games, and were only able to win one of those (69-49 versus South Alabama).
As for the Mavericks, they didn’t have a ton of trouble (78-58) in a road game the last time these teams met, and I don’t think much will change here. I’m sticking with TX-Arlington.
