The Idaho Vandals and the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks meet in Big Sky conference college basketball action from the J. Lawrence Walkup Skydome on Saturday afternoon.
The Idaho Vandals will look to snap a five-game losing streak after a 73-45 beatdown loss at the hands of Southern Utah last time out. Trevon Allen led the Vandals with 12 points and 3 steals while Jack Wilson added 10 points with a team-high 8 rebounds as the only other double-digit scorer for Idaho in the losing effort. Marquell Fraser added 4 points with 6 rebounds as well in the defeat for Idaho. Allen leads Idaho in scoring with an average of 19.5 points per game while Fraser leads the Vandals in assists with 2.4 assists per game and Forrest leads Idaho in rebounding with 6.3 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Idaho is averaging 65.7 points per game on 43.8% shooting from the field, 30.5% from behind the arc and 67.7% from the foul line this season.
The Northern Arizona Lumberjacks will look to add to their current four-game winning streak after a 69-54 win over Sacramento State in their last outing. Brooks DeBisschop and Bernie Andre led the way with 15 points apiece, with Andre adding a team-high 7 rebounds and shooting 5 of 9 from the floor with 3 threes while DeBisschop had 6 rebounds and a team-high 6 assists. Luke Avdalovic added 14 points with a pair of steals to finish off the trio of double-digit scorers for Northern Arizona in the win while Cameron Shelton added 8 points with 6 assists of his own. Shelton leads the Lumberjacks in scoring and assists with an average of 12.9 points and 4.2 assists per game while DeBisschop leads Northern Arizona in rebounding with 7.5 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Northern Arizona is averaging 72.3 points per game on 45.3% shooting from the field, 38.4% from behind the arc and 70% from the foul line this season.
Idaho is 7-3 ATS in their last 10 road games and 5-2-1 ATS in their last 8 games overall while the under is 4-0-1 in their last 5 games following a loss. Northern Arizona is 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games overall and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following a win while the over is 17-7 in their last 24 Saturday games. The home team is 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.
The Vandals have had a nice run ATS as of late, taking Montana State, Montana and Eastern Washington all down to the wire losing by four points or less. However, lately the Vandals have stumbled, losing their last two games by a combined 49 points, and as much as I’d like points in this spot, the fact is that the Lumberjacks are rolling right now, and are outscoring teams by 14.5 points per game at home while Idaho is averaging just 60.3 points per game on the road and losing by 10.7 points per game away from home. I’ll lay the points with Northern Arizona in this one.
