The UC Santa Barbara Gauchos and the Long Beach State 49ers meet in college basketball action from Walter Pyramid on Saturday.
UC Santa Barbara enters this game at 13-8 on the season. The Gauchos are 1-4 in the last five games, beating UC Riverside while otherwise falling to Long Beach State, Hawaii, and CSUN twice in that span.
In the Thursday loss to the Matadors, UCSB’s lead scorer was Max Heidegger with 30 points and two rebounds. The only other Gauchos player in double-digits there was Amadou Sow, who doubled up on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Over on the Long Beach State side, they’re 7-15 this year. The 49ers are 1-3 in their last four, beating UC Irvine and falling to UC Davis, CSUF and UC Riverside otherwise in that span.
In the loss to the Highlanders, Long Beach State’s Chance Hunter posted 20 points and eight rebounds, while Michael Carter had 14 points. Colin Slater added 12 points for the 49ers there as well.
Long Beach State is 7-3-1 ATS in their last 11 Saturday games and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 after an ATS loss. The 49ers are 2-6 ATS in their last eight overall and the under is 7-2 in the last nine home games.
Meanwhile, the Gauchos are 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight road games and 0-5 ATS in their last five overall. UCSB is 0-6-1 ATS in the last seven after a straight-up loss and the over is 5-1 in their last six after a straight-up loss.
During UC Santa Barbara’s last four losses, they’ve scored 67 or fewer in three of those. After holding LBSU to 55 points, the Gauchos allowed 70 to Hawaii and 162 combined in the pair of losses to CSUN.
As for Long Beach State, they haven’t seen the right side of 70 points in any of their last three games, but generally they’re a better scoring team than that. This matchup seems like something of a dice roll, but the safer play looks like the 49ers on the cover.
