The UNC Wilmington Seahawks and the James Madison Dukes meet in college basketball action from JMU Convocation Center on Saturday.
UNC Wilmington enters this game at 7-16 so far. After managing consecutive wins over Northeastern and Charleston, the Seahawks fell in their Thursday game versus Towson.
In the loss to Towson, UNC Wilmington’s Jaylen Sims posted 16 points with three rebounds and two assists. Marten Linssen added 12 points with seven rebounds, and Ty Gadsden had 11 points with five assists there.
Over on the James Madison side, they’re 8-13 this year. The Dukes have lost seven straight games versus Charleston, Delaware, Drexel, Towson, William & Mary, Elon and Charleston again in that time.
In the loss to the Cougars, James Madison’s Matt Lewis led the team with 22 points, five rebounds and three assists. Dwight Wilson put up a double-double there with 17 points, 15 rebounds and three assists.
The Dukes are 0-5 ATS in their last five Saturday games and 0-6 ATS in their last six after a straight-up loss. James Madison is 0-7 ATS in their last seven overall and the over is 5-2 in their last seven overall.
Meanwhile, the Seahawks are 4-12-3 ATS in their last 19 road games and 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 after a straight-up loss. The over is 5-1 in UNC Wilmington’s last six overall and 4-0 in their last four road games.
UNC Wilmington put up two good two-point wins versus Northeastern and Charleston, but lost the handle in the Thursday game with a 66-point total in an 11-point loss. The Seahawks have finished below 70 points in eight of their last 10 games.
As for James Madison, they’ve put up some pretty solid points totals lately but they’re giving up a ton of points on the other side. Both teams should do pretty well offensively in this one, but the Dukes are probably the better cover pick. I don’t really like this matchup, though.
