The Colgate Raiders (16-6, 7-2 CONF) and the Holy Cross Crusaders (3-19, 2-7 CONF) will meet on Saturday, February 1st for a Patriot League matchup at the Hart Center in Worcester, MA. The game will be played at 2:00 PM eastern time.
Colgate is coming off an unusual home conference loss to the Lafayette Leopards, 80-78. Senior F Rapolas Ivanauskas led the Raiders in scoring with 25 points in the losing effort. That loss snapped a three-game win streak for Colgate, in which their only other conference loss came to Lafayette as well. Holy Cross is coming off an 81-66 road loss to the Navy Midshipmen on Wednesday. Freshman F Joe Pridgen led the Crusaders in scoring with 20 points in the loss.
Colgate prides itself on its offense, as the Raiders score 75.2 points per game on 45% FG shooting. Colgate gives up 69.6 points per game, which is about the country’s average. Colgate also earns 35.7 rebounds, 14.4 assists, 2.6 blocks, and 5.4 steals per game.
Holy Cross has struggled mightly on both sides on the ball, but especially on the defense. The Crusaders allow a whopping 80.5 points per game to opposing teams, and they only score 67.8 points per game themselves. The Crusaders also earn 32.4 rebounds, 12.5 assists, 2.7 blocks, and 4.8 steals per game.
Colgate is 10-11 ATS this season and 7-3 ATS in their last ten games. Colgate is also 4-7 ATS on the road so far this season. Holy Cross is 8-12-1 ATS this season and 4-5-1 ATS in their last ten games. Holy Cross is also 3-5 ATS at home so far this season.
Colgate has impressed me this season, especially their senior forward Rapolas Ivanauskas. Holy Cross is usually a team that fights for the Patriot League title come March, but this is plainly not their year. I will take Colgate laying the heavy lumber in this one.
