The Eastern Illinois Panthers had their 4-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 11-10 (4-5 OVC) on the season after being defeated by the Murray State Racers, 73-70, this past Thursday night. Eastern Illinois fought back from a double-digit 2nd half deficit to try by just a 67-66 margin with 2:18 left in regulation, however, the Panthers offense went cold down the stretch and Eastern Illinois couldn’t pull off the come from behind victory. Eastern Illinois allowed Murray State to shoot 50.0% from the field while the Panthers shot just 39.4% from the field and 23.5% from beyond the arc in the loss. Leading the way for the Panthers was Josiah Wallace who had 24 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and a block.

Defensively, Eastern Illinois is allowing their opponents to average 68.3 ppg on 41.0% shooting from the field. The Panthers have a rebound margin of 2.0 and a turnover margin of 2.7.
The Austin Peay Governors won their 9th consecutive game and improved to 15-7 (9-0 OVC) on the season after defeating the SIU-Edwardsville Cougars, 82-58, this past Thursday night. Austin Peay was outstanding on both ends of the court against the Cougars and had no trouble securing the victory after taking a 59-42 lead with 11:29 left in regulation. Austin Peay shot 49.0% from the field and 47.4% from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Governors was Eli Abaev who had a double-double with 13 points, 10 rebounds, and a steal.

The Panthers are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall and just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games. The Governors are 8-0 ATS in their last 8 games following a straight up win and 11-1-1 ATS in their last 13 games following a ATS win.
Eastern Illinois has been decent on both ends of the court this season as the Panthers come into this game ranked 76th in scoring offense, 75th in FG%, and 99th in defensive FG%.
Austin Peay is no stronger in giving up points with their fast paced style of offense as the Governors rank just 250th in scoring defense & 328th in defensive FG%, however, the Governors offense is one of the best in the OVC and currently rank 26th in scoring offense and 31st in FG%.
Austin Peay has been lights out at home this season, including winning their last three games by an average of 19 points, however, I don’t think the Governors should sleep on the Panthers in this one as Eastern Illinois has won 4 of their last 5 games and had was very competitive on the road recently at Murray State. Eastern Illinois hasn’t been great on the road this season overall, however, as I think their offense will be able to put up some points agianst the Governors defense, I’m taking Eastern Illinois to cover with the points in this one. Good Luck!
