The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (11-11, 4-7 CONF) and the Arkansas State Red Wolves (15-8, 7-5 CONF) will meet on Saturday, February 1st for a Sun Belt Conference matchup at First National Bank Arena in Jonesboro, AR. The game will be played at 5:00 PM eastern time.
Coastal Carolina is coming off a 96-79 loss to Arkansas Little-Rock. That loss extended the Chanticleer’s current losing streak to four games. It has been a disappointing and surprisingly bad start to conference play for Coastal Carolina, who was 7-4 before conference play. Arkansas State is coming off a 71-64 home loss to Appalachian State on Thursday. That loss snapped a three-game win streak for the Red Wolves, who have played rather well in Sun Belt play so far.
Coastal Carolina scores at an above-average rate, scoring 78.0 points per game. However, Coastal Carolina does sacrifice defense for scoring oftentimes, as the Chanticleers give up 74.7 points per game as well, and just gave up 96 to Little-Rock. Coastal Carolina also earns 41.2 rebounds, 13.3 assists, 3.3 blocks, 8.3 steals per game.
Arkansas State scores 70.5 points per game off 44.2% FG shooting. The Red Wolves give up 70.0 points per contest, which puts them at about the conference average in both scoring and defense. Arkansas State also earns 32.8 rebounds, 14.5 assists, 3.0 blocks, and 7.0 steals per game as well.
Coastal Carolina is 8-12 ATS this season and 4-6 ATS in their last ten games. Coastal Carolina is also 3-4 ATS on the road so far this season. Arkansas State is 15-6 ATS this season and 7-3 ATS in their last ten games. Arkansas State is also 9-3 ATS at home so far this season.
Let's be honest here, Coastal Carolina has been a huge disappointment in conference play up until this point. I still believe that this Chanticleers team is very talented, and they still have been able to score points. In this game, I see Coastal Carolina figuring it out, and I think the 2.5 points are too valuable not to take. Coastal Carolina +2.5 is the play for me.
Ronald’s Pick Coastal Carolina +2.5
