The Old Dominion Monarchs and the Southern Miss Golden Eagles meet in college basketball action from Reed Green Coliseum on Thursday.
Old Dominion enters this game at 8-13 overall. After losing three straight versus Charlotte, Western KY and Marshall, the Monarchs have posted consecutive wins versus Charlotte and FL Atlantic.
In the win over the Owls, Old Dominion’s Anthony Oliver posted 21 points with six rebounds. Xavier Green added 14 points with four rebounds and four assists there, and Kalu Ezikpe had 12 boards with nine points.
Over on the Southern Miss side, they’re currently 6-15 so far. After posting consecutive wins over Rice and UAB, the Golden Eagles lost their last game versus Middle Tennessee on Saturday.
In the loss to the Raiders, Southern Miss’ Tyler Stevenson put up 17 points with five rebounds. Boban Jacdonmi added 16 points with 12 rebounds and Gabe Watson had 10 points with four rebounds there.
The Eagles are 2-5 ATS in their last seven home games and 1-4 ATS in their last five after a straight-up loss. The under is 5-2 in Southern Miss’ last seven home games and 6-1 in the last seven after an ATS win.
Meanwhile, the Monarchs are 8-24 ATS in their last 32 Thursday games and 3-1-1 ATS in their last five road games. Old Dominion is 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 overall and the under is 20-9 in their last 29 overall.
The Monarchs haven’t posted much offensively lately, and they haven’t hit 70 points in any of their last six games. Still, the Old Dominion defense has been on point over the last two games, allowing 117 combined points.
As for Southern Miss, they’ve been pretty spotty in the scoring department, but did manage a combined 165 against Rice and UAB. Still, even with the inconsistency I’m going to stick with the Golden Eagles here.
