The Southeast Missouri State Redhawks and the Morehead State Eagles meet in college basketball action from Ellis Johnson Arena on Thursday.
Southeast Missouri State enters this game at 4-17 so far. the Redhawks are on an eight-game losing streak right now, falling to Murray State, SIU-Edwardsville and Eastern Illinois in their last trio.
In the loss to the Panthers, Southeast Missouri State’s only double-digit scorer was Alex Caldwell with 20 points, four rebounds and two assists. Jordan Love was the next-closest there with eight points, four rebounds and two assists.
Over on the Morehead State side, they’re 9-12 so far. The Eagles have lost their last four straight games, falling to Tennessee State, Belmont, Tennessee Tech and JSU in that span.
In the loss to the Gamecocks, Morehead State’s only double-digit scorer was Jordan Walker with 22 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Jaden Stanley-Williams added seven points and two rebounds there as well.
The Eagles are 4-0 ATS in their last four Thursday games and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 after an ATS loss. Morehead State is 0-4 ATS in their last four overall and the over is 4-1 in the last five at home.
Meanwhile, the Redhawks are 1-6 ATS in their last seven road games and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 overall. SEMO is 3-7 ATS in their last 10 after a straight-up loss and the over is 6-1 in their last seven overall.
Well, if there’s a silver lining in this eight-game losing streak for SEMO, it’s that they’ve been pretty competitive over their last five games. The Redhawks were close in three of those, falling by two to TN State, five to Murray State and two to Eastern IL. So that’s something.
As for Morehead State, they haven’t hit 60 points in any of their last four games and are getting pretty well destroyed these days. There’s not a lot of stuff to like in this game, but I’m going to take SEMO on the cover.
