The Wake Forest Demon Deacons and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish meet in college basketball action from Joyce Center on Wednesday.
Wake Forest comes in here at 9-10 so far. The Deacons are 1-5 in their last six games, beating Boston College while otherwise falling to Florida State, Duke, Virginia Tech, Clemson and Virginia.
In the loss to the Cavaliers, Wake Forest’s Andrien White led the team with 21 points, five rebounds and two assists. Isaiah Mucius (16 points; 10 rebounds) and Olivier Sarr (11 points; 10 rebounds each had double-doubles there also.
Over on the Notre Dame side, they’re 11-8 so far. The Irish are 1-4 in their last five games, beating Georgia Tech and otherwise dropping to NC State, Louisville, Syracuse and Florida State in that time.
In the loss to the Seminoles, Notre Dame’s Prentiss Hubb led the team with 24 points and four rebounds. Both John Mooney and Juwan Durham had 16 points apiece there, and the duo combined for 14 rebounds as well.
The Irish are 1-5 ATS in their last six Wednesday games and 8-17-2 ATS in their last 27 home games. Notre Dame is 8-17-2 ATS in their last 27 home games and 5-20-1 ATS in their last 26 after an ATS win.
Meanwhile, the Deacons are 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games and 1-5 ATS in their last six Wednesday games. The over is 9-1-1 in Wake’s last 11 overall and 4-1 in the last five Wednesday games.
What’s happened to Wake over the last six games? Well, they’ve faced some pretty stout competition as the ACC schedule has opened up, and beyond that they haven’t been good at finishing out close games. The Deacons lost 71-68 to Clemson and 65-63 to Virginia.
Notre Dame hasn’t been much more reliable themselves lately, but they’re scoring pretty well (167 combined in their last pair). I’m going to stick with the Irish here, but I’m not thrilled with either team right now.
