The Central Michigan Chippewas and the Miami-Ohio RedHawks meet in college basketball MAC-tion from Millett Hall on Tuesday night.
The Central Michigan Chippewas will look to find some consistency after alternating wins and losses in each of their last five games after a 71-66 win over Ball State last time out. Dallas Morgan led the Chippewas with 21 points on 9 of 14 shooting with 3 threes and 3 steals while David DiLeo added 14 points and Kevin McKay chipped in 13 points and a team-high 9 rebounds. Rob Montgomery added 11 points with 4 steals and Devontae Lane added 10 points to finish off the scoring in double figures for Central Michigan in the winning effort. McKay leads Central Michigan in scoring and rebounding with an average of 15.2 points and 6.3 rebounds per game while Lane leads the Chippewas in assists with 3.7 assists per game this season. As a team, Central Michigan is averaging 82.3 points per game on 44.1% shooting from the field, 33.4% from behind the arc and 72.7% from the foul line his season.
The Miami-Ohio RedHawks will look to build on a 73-68 win over Eastern Michigan last time out. Isaiah Coleman-Lands led the RedHawks with 16 points on 6 of 10 shooting with 4 threes while Nike Sibande added 14 points with a team-high 8 rebounds. Dae Dae Grant added 13 points with 3 threes while Dalonte Brown added 10 points to finish off the scoring in double figures for Miami-Ohio in the victory. Sibande leads Miami-Ohio in scoring with an average of 14.1 points per game while Brown leads the RedHawks in rebounding with 6 rebounds per game and Mekhi Lairy leads Miami-Ohio in assists with an average of 3.4 assists per game this season. As a team, Miami-Ohio is averaging 74.6 points per game on 43.9% shooting from the field, 35.6% from behind the arc and 74.1% from the foul line this season.
Central Michigan is 13-6-1 ATS in their last 20 road games and 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games following a win while the under is 5-0 in their last 5 games overall. Miami-Ohio is 6-15 ATS in their last 21 games overall and 5-12 ATS in their last 17 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 5-2 in their last 7 games overall.
I understand Miami-Ohio is at home and I’ve said before that I’m trying to not read too much into Central Michigan’s offensive numbers as the Chippewas played a lot of subpar competition early on in the year. However, the Chippewas are simply playing the better basketball coming into this one on the whole and are only being outscored by 2.4 points per game across their last 5 games while Miami-Ohio is being outscored by 5.4 points per game. The Chippewas have also been pretty good on the road as well for some time now so I’ll take a shot with the Chippewas and the free point in this one.
