The Mercer Bears and the VMI Keydets meet in college basketball action from Cameron Hall on Saturday.
Mercer is sitting at 9-11 overall. The Bears have won their last three games, taking out VMI, Samford and WCU consecutively in that stretch that followed a three-game losing streak.
In the win over the Catamounts, Mercer’s Djordje Dimitrijevic led the way on 24 points with four assists. Jeffrey Gary added 20 points there, and Ethan Stair doubled up with 17 points and 13 rebounds.
Over on the VMI side, they’re 6-15 this year. The Keydets have lost eight of their last nine games, with the lone victory coming versus the Citadel. In their last game, VMI lost again to Wofford.
In the los to Wofford, VMI’s Greg Parham topped the team with 16 points, five rebounds and one assist. Garrett Gilkeson added 13 points there, and Travis Even had 12 points with five rebounds and one assist.
VMI is 4-1 ATS in the last four Saturday games and 2-6 ATS in their last eight home games. The Keydets are 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight overall and the over is 28-13 in their last 41 overall.
Meanwhile, the Bears are 2-9 ATS in their last 11 Saturday games and 20-7-1 ATS in their last 28 after a straight-up win. The under is 6-2 in Mercer’s last eight road games and 11-3 in their last 14 overall.
The last time these teams met up wast a 73-62 home win for Mercer a few games back. Since then, the Bears have posted a combined 175 points over their last two games and show no signs of cooling off offensively.
As for VMI, they’ve posted a few strong showing scoring-wise, but I don’t think they’ll be able to set any kind of pace here. I’m going with the Bears on the cover.
