The Duquesne Dukes and the UMass Minutemen meet in college basketball action from Mullins Center on Saturday.
The Dukes come in here at 15-3 so far. Duquesne had a five-game winning streak going versus Saint Louis, Davidson, St. Joseph’s, George Washington and Fordham before losing to Rhode Island their last time out.
In the loss to the Rams, Duquesne’s Marcus Weathers posted 20 points with seven rebounds and two assists as the only team player in double-figures. Maceo Austin pulled down 10 rebounds with four points in that one, however.
Over on the UMass side, they’re 7-12 this year. The Minutemen are on a four-game losing streak right now, falling to Dayton, St. Bonaventure, George Washington and George Mason in that time.
In the loss to the Patriots, UMass’ Carl Pierre led the team on 23 points with three rebounds. The only other Minutemen player in double-figures was Tre Mitchell with 14 points, 12 rebounds and two assists.
The Minutemen are 2-6 ATS in their last eight Saturday games and 1-6 ATS in their last seven after an ATS loss. UMass is 0-4 ATS in their last four overall and the over is 9-3 in their last 12 overall.
Meanwhile, the Dukes are 1-5 ATS in their last six road games and 1-4 ATS in their last five after an ATS loss. The under is 4-0-1 in Duquesne’s last five overall and 4-0 in their last four road games.
Duquesne didn’t do too well in that loss to Rhode Island, and a lot of their bench guys got some garbage time. Still, it’s worth noting that it was the third straight game with 66 points or fewer for the Dukes.
That said, UMass has posted 63 or fewer points in four straight games, and I don’t think the Dukes will have issues controlling the game and covering here.
