The Arkansas State Red Wolves and the Troy Trojans meet in college basketball action from Trojan Arena on Saturday.
Arkansas State comes into this one at 14-7 this season. The Red Wolves are 3-1 in the last four games, falling to App State while taking out Troy, Coastal Carolina and South Alabama otherwise.
In the win over the Jaguars, Arkansas State’s Marquis Eaton led the way on 19 points with four rebounds and four assists. Christian Willis added 17 points with six assists and three rebonds, and Jerry Johnson chipped in 10 points and five assists.
Over on the Troy side, they’re currently 8-13 so far. The Trojans are just 1-3 in their last four games, beating Georgia State while otherwise dropping to Arkansas State, Georgia Southern and Little Rock.
In the loss to Little Rock, Troy’s lead scorer was Jitaurious Gordon with 15 points, two assists and one rebound. Desmond Williams chipped in 10 points with three boards there, and Nick Stampley had eight points with 10 rebounds.
The Trojans are 1-5 ATS in their last six Saturday games and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 after an ATS loss. Troy is 3-7 ATS in their last 10 after a straight-up loss and the over is 5-1 in the last six overall.
Meanwhile, the Red Wolves are 5-0 ATS in their last five Saturday games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games. Arkansas State is 4-0 ATS in their last four overall and 5-1 ATS in their last six after an ATS win.
The last time these teams faced off was a pretty intense game that was close the whole way. They pushed it to overtime, where Arkansas State scored 15 points on the way to a 76-68 win that was much closer than that.
In any case, Troy’s been pretty choppy in their last three games, giving up at least 81 points in both of their losses during that span. I’m not ready to trust the Trojans right now, so I’m going Red Wolves on the cover.
