The Southeast Missouri State Redhawks and the Eastern Illinois Panthers meet in college basketball action from Lantz Arena on Saturday.
Southeast Missouri State sits at 4-16 this year. The Redhawks have lost their last seven straight games, falling to Austin Peay, Murray State, Belmont, TN State, Austin Peay again, Murray State again and SIU-E in that time.
In the loss to the Cougars, Southeast Missouri State’s Alex Caldwell posted 15 points with three rebounds and two assists. The only other player on the team in double-digits there was DQ Nicholas with 12 points and five boards.
Over on the Panthers’ side, they’re currently 10-9 this year. Eastern Illinois has won their last three games, beating JSU, Tennessee Tech and Tennessee-Martin during that span.
In the win over the Skyhawks, Eastern Illinois’ Josiah Wallace put up 22 points with four rebounds. George Dixon added 20 points and nine rebounds there, and Mack Smith scored 17 points.
The Panthers are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 Saturday games and 4-1 ATS in their last five after a straight-up win. EIU is 4-1 ATS in their last five after an ATS win and 2-6 ATS in their last eight overall.
Meanwhile, the Redhawks are 0-6 ATS in their last six road games and 2-7 ATS in their last nine after a straight-up loss. SEMO is 2-8 ATS in their last 10 overall and the over is 6-0 in their last six overall.
SEMO hasn’t shown too many signs of life in this seven-game losing streak, as only a couple of the games have even been close (75-73 versus TN State and 96-91 versus Murray State).
As for Eastern Illinois, they’ve managed to hit at least 70 points in each of their last three games, and are on a pretty good run right now. I’m going to stick with the Panthers on the cover.
