The UTEP Miners and the UTSA Roadrunners meet in college basketball action from UTSA Convocation Center on Saturday.
UTEP comes in here at 11-7 so far. The Miners are 2-4 in their last six games, with losses to Boise State, FIU, Florida Atlantic and LA Tech alongside wins over Southern Miss and UTSA.
In the Wednesday win over the Roadrunners, UTEP’s lead scorer was Bryson Wiliams, who doubled up on 34 points with 10 rebounds. Also in double-digits for the Miners there was Daryl Edwards with 18 poitns, three assists and two rebounds.
Over on the Roadrunners’ side, they’re 8-10 this year. The Roadrunners are 2-3 in their last five, beating LA Tech and Southern Miss while dropping to Florida Atlantic, FIU and UTEP otherwise.
In the loss to the Miners Wednesday, UTSA’s Jhivvan Jackson led the way on 29 points with 13 rebounds and two assists. Keaton Wallace also put up a nice line on 26 points, five rebounds and four assists.
The over is 4-0 in the Roadrunners’ last four overall and 4-1 in their last five after an ATS win. UTSA is 16-6 ATS in their last 22 Saturday games and 5-1 ATS in their last six after an ATS win.
Meanwhile, the Miners are 2-10 ATS in their last 12 Saturday games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven after an ATS loss. UTEP is 4-10 ATS in their last 14 road games and the under is 17-5 in their last 22 Saturday games.
The last game these teams played on Wednesday was an OT epic, with UTSA controlling the first half 42-28 and UTEP storming back with a 52-35 run over the second half and overtime periods. UTSA relied on a few key scorers, and UTEP spread their stats out a little more generously, but it was a tight game all the way.
In any case, this is set to be another great matchup, and it’s probably one to stay away from. I’m going to say the Roadrunners get the home push here and cover, but it’s dicey.
