The Jacksonville State Gamecocks lost their 3rd straight game and dropped to 7-11 (2-3 OVC) on the season after being defeated by the Eastern Illinois Panthers, 70-69, this past Thursday. Jacksonville State struggled defensively agianst Eastern Illinois and although they made a strong comeback at the end of the game, couldn’t overcome a 57-42 deficit midway through the 2nd half. Jacksonville State shot just 21.4% from beyond the arc while allowing Eastern Illinois to shoot 50.0% from the field in the loss. Leading the way for the Gamecocks was Kayne Henry who had a double-double with 16 points, 14 rebounds, 1 block, and 2 steals.

The SIU-Edwardsville Cougars lost their 4th consecutive game and dropped to 4-14 (1-4 OVC) on the season after being defeated by the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles, 72-69, this past Thursday. SIU-Edwardsville held a 37-28 lead at halftime, however, struggled defensively in the 2nd half and couldn’t fight back after a Tennessee Tech layup with :52 seconds left by Tujautae Williams gave the Golden Eagles the lead for good. SIU-Edwardsville shot just 25.0% from beyond the arc and was outrebounded by the Golden Eagles by a 43-31 margin in the loss. Leading the way for the Cougars was Tyresse Williford who had 13 points, 3 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 steals.

The Gamecocks are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall, however, just 2-6-1 ATS in their last 9 games following an ATS win. The Cougars are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS loss and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games.
Jacksonville State has been decent on the offensive end this season, ranking 129th in scoring offense, however, the Gamecocks have struggled defensively as they currently rank just 195th in scoring defense & 254th in defensive FG%.
SIU-Edwardsville has had issues on both ends of the court this season as they come into this game ranked just 289th in scoring offensive and 290th in scoring defense.
SIU-Edwardsville picked up a nice win in their conference opener with a road win against Belmont, however, it’s be a struggle overall for the Cougars this season. Jacksonville State isn’t as strong as a team as we’ve seen in the past, however, SIU-Edwardsville is jus 2-4 at home this season and as I think the Gamecocks offense will have success in this one, I think Jacksonville State does enough to cover this small road spread.
