The North Texas Mean Green will travel to the Thomas Assembly Center to take on the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs this Saturday night in College Basketball action.
The North Texas Mean Green won their 4th straight game and improved to 10-8 (4-1 C-USA) on the season after defeating the Southern Miss Golden Eagles, 72-52, this past Thursday. North Texas was outstanding defensively agianst Southern Miss and had no trouble securing the victory after taking a 60-45 lead with 8:34 left in regulation. North Texas shot 49.1% from the field while holding the Golden Eagles to just 20.0% shooting from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Mean Green was Javion Hamlet who had a double-double 13 points, 10 assists, 1 rebound and an assist.
On the season, North Texas is averaging 70.7 ppg on 47.5% shooting from the field. The Mean Green are averaging 8.9 three-pointers per game on 38.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, North Texas has been led by Umoja Gibson (14.2 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 2.3 apg, 1.2 spg), Javion Hamlet (11.8 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 4.7 apg), and Deng Geu (8.5 ppg, 6.3 rpg).
Defensively, North Texas is holding their opponents to an average of 62.3 ppg on 40.7% shooting from the field. The Mean Green have a rebound margin of 4.8 and a turnover margin of -0.8.
The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs won their 2nd consecutive game and improved to 13-4 (4-1 C-USA) on the season after defeating the Rice Owls, 72-56, this past Thursday. Louisiana Tech dominated Rice on both ends of the court in this one and had no trouble securing the victory after taking a 42-26 lead at halftime. Louisiana Tech shot 46.2% from the field while holding Rice to just 39.2% shooting from the field and 29.0% shooting from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Derric Jean who had 13 points, 4 rebounds, 8 assists, and 2 steals.
On the season, Louisiana Tech is averaging 76.8 ppg on 46.3% shooting from the field. The Bulldogs are averaging 8.5 three-pointers per game on 34.1% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Louisiana Tech has been led by DaQuan Bracey (12.6 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 3.1 apg, 1.2 spg), Amorie Archibald (10.9 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 2.7 apg), and Derric Jean (9.1 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 2.9 apg, 1.3 spg).
Defensively, Louisiana Tech is holding their opponents to an average of 61.2 ppg on 38.3% shooting from the field. The Bulldogs have a rebound margin of 2.5 and a turnover margin of 5.0.
The Mean Green are 8-0 ATS in their last 8 games following an ATS win and 10-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall. The Bulldogs are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 Saturday games and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games.
North Texas has won 5 of their last 6 games and although their not the highest scoring team, they shoot the ball well (28th in FG%; 15th in 3P-FG%) and have been solid defensively, ranking 44th in scoring defense.
Louisiana Tech has won 7 of their last 8 games and have been outstanding on both sides of the ball as they rank 60th in scoring offense, T-26th in scoring defense, and 26th in defensive FG%.
North Texas has played well as of late, however, the Mean Green are just 3-4 on the road and struggled at Louisiana Tech last year in a 66-53 loss as the Thomas Assembly Center. Louisiana Tech is a perfect 9-0 this season at home with their two C-USA victories coming at an average of 22 ppg and as I think the Bulldogs offense will no issues putting up points on their home court, I’m taking Louisiana Tech to cover this mid-range spread.
