The Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles and the Eastern Illinois Panthers meet in college basketball action from Lantz Arena on Saturday.
Tennessee Tech comes in here at 4-14 so far. The Eagles were on an eight game losing streak versus Ohio, Lipscomb, WCU, Mississippi, Eastern Kentucky, Morehead State, Austin Peay and Murray State before beating SIU-Edwardsville in their last outing.
In the win over the Cougars, Tennessee Tech’s Darius Allen led the charge on 15 points with nine rebounds, and Jr. Clay had 14 points with four rebounds and four assists. Amadou Sylia had 13 points with six rebounds there also.
Over on the Eastern Illinois side, they’re 8-9 this season. After a five-game losing streak versus Grand Canyon, TN State, Belmont, Eastern Kentucky and Morehead State, the Panthers won their last game versus JSU.
In the win over the Gamecocks, Eastern Illinois’ Josiah Wallace posted 20 points with five rebounds and four assists. Mack Smith added 14 points and six rebounds there, and George Dixon had 11 points with five boards.
The over is 8-3 in the Panthers’ last 11 overall and 41-16 in their last 57 home games. Eastern Illinois is 2-7 ATS in their last nine Saturday games and 0-5 ATS in their last five after an ATS loss.
Meanwhile, the Eagles are 0-4 ATS in their last four Saturday games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 road games. Tennessee Tech is 2-8 ATS in their last 10 overall and 0-5-1 ATS in their last six after an ATS win.
Tennessee Tech is glad to get out of the bad streak they were on, and it was bound to happen sooner or later. The Eagles have logged a couple of solid offensive outings in their last four games, 72 points versus SIUE and Morehead State.
Eastern Illinois is in the same boat; they had a few solid points totals in their losing streak and have turned things around. All things considered, I feel like the Panthers are the better team here and shouldn’t have too many issues covering.
