The Miami-Ohio RedHawks and the Ball State Cardinals meet in college basketball MAC-tion from the Worthen Arena on Saturday afternoon.
The Miami-Ohio RedHawks will look to build on a 77-74 win over Kent State in their last outing. Nike Sibande led the RedHawks with 25 points along with 10 rebounds for the double-double while Dae Dae Grant and Bam Bowman each had 11 points to round out the trio of double-digit scorers for Miami-Ohio in the winning effort. Bowman had 6 rebounds on 4 of 6 shooting while Grant had 3 assists and a pair of steals. Sibande leads Miami-Ohio in scoring with an average of 14.5 points per game while Dalonte Brown leads the RedHawks in rebounding with 6.5 rebounds per game and Mekhi Lairy leads Miami-Ohio in assists with 3.3 assists per game this season. As a team, Miami-Ohio is averaging 76.3 points per game on 43.7% shooting from the field, 34.5% from behind the 3-point line and 73.4% from the foul line this season.
The Ball State Cardinals will look to build on a 69-52 win over Eastern Michigan in their last outing. Tahjai Teague led the Cardinals with 23 points on 9 of 12 shooting with a game-high 17 rebounds for the double-double while Ishmael El-Amin added 16 points with 4 threes and 7 assists and Kyle Mallers added 10 points with 3 threes to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for Ball State in the win. Jarron Coleman added 8 points with a team-high 8 assists as well in the victory. Teague leads Ball State in scoring and rebounding with an average of 14.7 points and 8.6 rebounds per game while Coleman leads the Cardinals in assists with 3 assists per game this season. As a team, Ball State is averaging 71.5 points per game on 43.8% shooting from the field, 34.1% from behind the 3-point line and 65.3% from the foul line this season.
Miami-Ohio is 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games overall and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games while the over is 7-1 in their last 8 Saturday games. Ball State is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 6-2 in their last 8 games following a win. The underdog is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
The RedHawks gave themselves a bit of a tough test on the road against Louisville and Wright State, but looking at the rest of their road games, Miami-Ohio didn’t play anybody that tough out of conference and even including conference play, the results haven’t been great for the RedHawks away from home. Ball state hasn’t been anything to write home about either, but Ball State owns a pair of solid conference home wins over Buffalo and Toledo and are outscoring their opponents by 15.7 points per game at home this season. I’ll side with Ball State at home in this one.
