The Missouri Tigers and the Alabama Crimson Tide meet in SEC conference college basketball action from the Coleman Coliseum on Saturday afternoon.
The Missouri Tigers will look to rebound after a 72-45 loss to Mississippi State in their last outing. Kobe Brown led Missouri with 14 points and 4 rebounds as the lone double-digit scorer for the Tigers in the losing effort. Dru Smith added 4 rebounds along with team-highs of 3 assists and 3 steals while Mark Smith had 8 points and Reed Nikko chipped in 6 points. Dru Smith leads Missouri in scoring and assists with an average of 11.4 points and 4.3 assists per game while Mark Smith leads the Tigers in rebounding with 4.7 assists per game this season. As a team, Missouri is averaging 66.9 points per game on 43.3% shooting from the field, 31.5% from behind the arc and 73% from the foul line this season.
The Alabama Crimson Tide will look to find some consistency after alternating wins and losses in each of their last five games, following an 83-64 win over Auburn, handing their in-state rival their first loss of the season. Kira Lewis Jr. led the Tide with 25 points on 8 of 14 shooting with 3 assists while Herbert Jones added 14 points with 12 rebounds for the double-double and Alex Reese came right behind with 13 points on 5 of 9 shooting with 3 triples. James Bolden added 11 points to finish off the scoring in double digits for Alabama in the win. Lewis Jr. leads Alabama in scoring and assists with an average of 16.8 points and 4.5 assists per game while John Petty Jr. leads the Crimson Tide in rebounding with 7.3 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Alabama is averaging the 4th-highest scoring offense in the country, putting up 83.2 points per game on 43.9% shooting from the field, 36% from behind the arc and 71% from the foul line this season.
Missouri is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 Saturday games and 4-10 ATS in their last 14 road games against a team with a winning home record while the under is 12-4 in their last 16 games overall. Alabama is 9-0 ATS in their last 9 home games and 13-3 ATS in their last 16 games overall while the under is 12-4 in their last 16 games following a win. The road team is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
I think you can definitely make a case for Missouri from the angle that Alabama could be in for a letdown after such a huge win over Auburn, knocking off a bitter rival and ending their undefeated run. However, I stand by what I’ve said that Alabama is the best team that you’ll see with such a pedestrian record, as the Tide have such a talented team with the likes of Kira Lewis Jr., John Petty Jr. and Herb Jones to name a few. Missouri just didn’t look good against Mississippi State and I don’t expect the issues to be turned around here. I’ll side with Alabama at home in this one.
