The Morehead State Eagles and the Tennessee State Tigers meet in college basketball action from Gentry Complex on Thursday.
Morehead State comes into this one at 9-8 so far. The Eagles are 3-0 in their last trio of outings, taking out Tennessee Tech, SIU-Edwardsville and Eastern Illinois in that stretch.
In the win over the Panthers, Morehead State’s Justin Thomas put up 18 points with five rebounds and six assists. Djimon Henson was also in double-digits there with 10 points, four rebounds and three assists.
Over on the Tennessee State side, they’re 11-6 this year. The Tigers are 4-1 in their last five outings, falling to TN-Martin while otherwise beating Blue Mountain, Eastern Illinois, SIUE and SEMO in that time.
In the win over the Redhawks, Tennessee State’s Carlos Marshall led the team on 21 points with two rebounds. Michael Littlejohn was also in double-figures there on 19 points, four rebounds and four assists.
The over is 4-1 in the Tigers’ last five home games and 5-0 in their last five overall. Tennessee State is 1-4 ATS in their last five after an ATS loss and the over is 5-1 in their last six Thursday games.
Meanwhile, the Eagles are 1-4 ATS in their last five Thursday games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 overall. The over is 5-1 in Morehead State’s last six overall and the under is 8-3 in their last 11 road games.
Morehead State had to come back from a five-point deficit against EIU, but to their credit they powered out a three-point win after a strong second half. The Eagles are playing pretty well over their last five games or so.
As for Tennessee State, they’ve scored at least 72 in each of their last six games and are also looking good despite a couple of close calls. This should be a fun matchup but I like the Tigers to keep it rolling and eke out a cover.
