The Line: Loyola-Chicago Ramblers -9.5 -- Over/Under: 117
The Southern Illinois Salukis and the Loyola Ramblers meet in college basketball action from Gentile Arena on Thursday.
Southern Illinois comes in here at 8-9 so far. The Salukis are 4-2 in their last six, beating Hampton, SEMO, Illinois State and Valparaiso while otherwise falling to Indiana State and Bradley.
The Salukis posted just 48 points versus Bradley, and the only player in double-figures there was Marcus Domask with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Barret Benson added 10 rebounds and four points there as well.
Over on the Loyola side, they’re 11-6 this year. The Ramblers are 3-1 in their last four games, falling to Drake but otherwise beating Valparaiso, Missouri State and Evansville in that time.
In the win over the Aces, Loyola’s lead scorer was Marquise Kennedy with 20 points and four rebounds. Aher Uguak added 12 points there, and Cameron Krutwig had 11 points with five rebounds and five assists.
The under is 5-0 in the Ramblers’ last five overall and 5-1 in their last six home games. Loyola is 1-3-1 ATS in their last five overall and 1-4 ATS in their last five after a straight-up win.
Meanwhile, the Salukis are 3-10 ATS in their last 13 Thursday games and 4-1 ATS in the last five after a straight-up loss. Southern Illinois is 0-4 ATS in their last four road games and the under is 7-0 in their last seven overall.
It’s been a mixed bag with the Salukis lately, but they’ve got a pretty solid record over their last half-dozen games and versus comparable opponents they play defense pretty well. Southern Illinois doesn’t really match up that great with the higher-scoring teams, though.
Considering the Ramblers have been pretty hit and miss when it comes to points totals, this might be a decent matchup. Coming off a nice game versus Evansville though, I like Loyola to bang out a cover here.
