College Basketball: Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at 9:00 pm (Don Haskins Center)
The Line: UTEP Miners -5.5 -- Over/Under: 141.5
The UTSA Roadrunners and the UTEP Miners meet in college basketball action from Don Haskins Center on Wednesday.
UTSA sits at 8-9 so far. After consecutive losses to Florida Atlantic and FIU, the Roadrunners have won their last pair of games versus Louisiana Tech and Southern Miss.
In the win over the Eagles, UTSA’s top scorer was Jhivvan Jackson with 23 points, six rebounds and four assists. Also in double-digits there was Keaton Wallace with 16 points, four assists and three rebounds.
Over on the UTEP side, they’re 10-7 this year. The Miners are 1-4 in their last five games, beating Southern Miss while otherwise falling to Boise State, FIU, Florida Atlantic and Louisiana Tech.
In the loss to the Bulldogs, UTEP’s Bryson Williams had 17 points with five rebounds and one assist. Souley Brown also finished in double-digits there with 12 points, one rebound and one assist.
The under is 20-8 in the Miners’ last 28 home games and 5-1 in their last six Wednesday games. UTEP is 1-5 ATS in their last six Wednesday games and 5-1 ATS in the last six after an ATS loss.
Meanwhile, the Roadrunners are 1-7 ATS in their last eight road games and 5-11 ATS in their last 16 overall. UTSA is 4-1 ATS in their last five after an ATS win and the over is 8-1 in their last nine overall.
UTSA has looked pretty solid in their last two games. The Roadrunners have posted a combined 169 points during that time, and they’ve scored at least 80 in each of their last three. UTSA has a capable offense when they get going.
As for UTEP, they’ve had some scoring duds this year, with 67 or fewer in four of their last five outings. I’m not sure the Miners will be able to keep up here, so I’m sticking with the Roadrunners on the cover.
