The Grambling State Tigers and the Alcorn State Braves meet in college basketball action from Davey Whitney Complex on Monday.
The Tigers come in here at 9-7 on the year. Following their latest loss versus Dayton, Grambling State has since taken out Alabama A&M, Alabama State and Southern University.
In the win over the Jaguars, Grambling State’s Devante Jackson and Cam Christon each scored 13 points, and combined for four rebounds. Also in double-digits there was Anthony Gatson with 11 points and two boards.
Over on the Alcorn State side, they’re 5-9 overall this season. The Braves are just 1-3 in their last four, with a win over Texas Southern alongside losses to Santa Clara, Prairie View and Jackson State.
In the loss to the Tigers, Alcorn State’s Troymain Crosby put up 22 points with 10 rebounds and three assists. Also in double-digit scoring there was Maurice Howard with 16 points, four assists and three rebounds.
The Braves are 7-2 ATS in their last nine home games and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 versus a team with a winning straight-up record. The over is 4-0 in Alcorn State’s last four overall and 13-3 in their last 16 after an ATS loss.
Meanwhile, the Tigers are 0-4 ATS in their last four Monday games and 0-5-1 ATS in their last six after an ATS win. The under is 4-0 in Grambling State’s last four overall and the over is 5-2 in their last seven after a straight-up win.
Grambling is looking better since mid-December or so, and they’ve got a 5-2 record in their last seven games. Both losses in that stretch came to good teams in Marquette and Dayton, though neither was a close game.
As for Alcorn State, they’ve put up some pretty decent points totals in spots here and there, but on the whole just aren’t playing well right now. I’m not thrilled about either one of these teams, but I like the Tigers on a slim cover here.
