In this article we will formulate a Blue Bombers vs Stampeders prediction for this CFL game on Friday, June 5th at McMahon Stadium in Calgary, Alberta. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this CFL matchup.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers Betting Preview

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers were 10-8 last season and they finished with 20 points, which was fourth in the West Division behind the Roughriders, Lions, and Stampeders. The Blue Bombers scored 459 points last year, while they allowed 424 points against. Winnipeg started the season with three straight wins, but they went 3-7 over their next 10, before finishing the season by winning four of their last five. The Blue Bombers played very solid defense to end the regular season, as they allowed 18 points or fewer in four of their last five games. Winnipeg did make the playoffs, but they lost in the first round by a score of 42-33 to the Alouettes.

This season, Winnipeg will have Zach Collaros at the quarterback spot, but he had a disappointing 2025 season. The offensive line should be a strength once again and Brady Oliveira is one of the best running backs in the CFL. Collaros should have plenty of options to throw to as well, as the receivers are also a strength of this team. On defense, Winnipeg has some question marks around the defensive line and the corner back spot, but the linebackers are very solid.

Calgary Stampeders Betting Preview

The Calgary Stampeders went 11-7 last year and they finished with 22 points, which was third in the West Division. The Stampeders scored 488 points last year and they allowed 416 points against. Calgary started the season with a 5-1 record through six games and they were 8-3 through eleven, but they went just 3-4 to end the regular season. The Stampeders struggled on defense at times in the 2025 season, as they allowed 31+ points in five of their last 11 games. Calgary also made the playoffs last year, but they lost to the Lions by a score of 33-30 in the first round.

This year, Calgary will have Vernon Adams Jr at quarterback, but he needs to stay healthy after dealing with some injuries last season. The Stampeders need to focus on the offensive line, but the trio of running backs in the backfield should get the ground game going. On defense, we saw Calgary have some struggles towards the end of the 2025 season, but they are loaded with talent and should be even better this year.

Blue Bombers vs Stampeders Prediction

This is a very even matchup to open the season for both teams, but Calgary will have the home field advantage. I do think having a healthy Vernon Adams Jr will be a positive for the Stampeders, but they need to protect him and he is also going against a very strong defense. Winnipeg is probably the more talented team, but Collaros wasn’t great last season and I need to see improvement before I back him. Take the Stampeders at home.

David Racey's Pick: Stampeders +1.5
